San Isidro to scratch way and bully to development |
SAN ISIDRO – MAYOR Requillo Samuya envisions the town as together working from scratch and then bully poverty out of its boundaries through horns. Quite literally, working from scratch means a no-nonsense poultry production and horning poverty would be through a stiff livestock program in its mostly agricultural lands. Mayor Requillo Samuya then challenged officers and members of the Barangay Livestock Aides (Balas) to prop their skills and knowledge to back his hope of finally gouging a niche of development for his town. Citing a reliable water supply, good and suitable environment that grows lush forage grasses for its animals, Samuya aired confidence that poultry and livestock could be a quick way to attain this goal. Here, about 19 BALA members received anew certificates of completion during the two-day Basic Refresher Training Course held at the Multi-Purpose Training Center here last July 18-19. The refresher course re-offered to para-veterinarians hopes to equip them of the new trends, technologies and traditional techniques to sustain a dream of spurring local development. “You should adhere to the basic principles of honesty, discipline, sincerity and love of country in the discharge of official functions an duties in the massive production of livestock and poultry in your respective barangays,” he reminded the paravets. The mayor added that the people should also know of the latest technology on animal care, a point the imparted to BALAs. Mayor Samuya and SB member Quirino Samuya, Chair Committee on Agriculture with Municipal Agricultural Officer Romeo Torralba welcomed the training team and participants at the opening ceremonies. Lecturers during the training include Dr. Roberto Castro (Agricultural Training Institute), Josefina Ladera and Romeo Blazo Cano (Provincial Veterinarian's Office). Topics tackled in the gathering were basic guidelines on vaccination procedures, importance on biologics administered to small and large animals including chicken to prevent infliction of chronic disease during inclement weather condition, observance of 21 days withdrawal period on animals administered with antibiotics which was articulated by Dr. Castro. Ladera and Cano also discussed importance on forage and pasture for ruminants (cattle, carabao, goat, sheep) as food. An actual hands on training for castration of four piglets, three goats, five dogs on anti-rabies, improved native chicken production and management. The said training was spearheaded by the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian headed by Dr. Stella Marie Lapiz with the coordination of the Local Government Units of San Isidro through DA-local office led by Romeo Torralba. |
