BIR Resibo raffle turns 5 into millionaires

FIVE persons became new millionaires after winning the Bureau of Internal Revenue's (BIR) electronic raffle of its Premyo sa Resibo (PSR) promo. Lawyer Rogelio Balaga, Bohol revenue district officer said the raffle marked BIR's 102nd anniversary Aug. 1 where five winners won P1 million each, tax paid. Winning entries were 3096029 in Makati , 2252834 in Marikina , 2343351 in Davao , 3283147 in Pangasinan and 1631395 in Quezon City.

The winners will be notified by a phone call on his/her cellphone from 338-9777 as to where and how to claim the prize. Another draw is set on Sept. 1 so that Balaga encourages everybody to take the opportunity to become a millionaire. Qualified receipt dates are from June 1 to Aug.31. Succeeding draws will be announced in TV, radio and print ads.

To join, identify the Tax Identification Number (TIN) of the establishment, receipt number and amount in the receipt and text PSR (space) TIN (asterisk) receipt number (asterisk) receipt amount. An example is PSR 001895*000842934*550 and send to 9777 for Smart/Talk n Text/Addict Mobile and Sun Cellular subscribers (negotiations still going on with Globe) with a charge of P1.50 introductory price per text. A valid entry is acknowledged thru text message and assigned a raffle entry number.

Errors in the message turn an entry invalid. The sender will be alerted on the error and advised on how to do it right. Deadline for sending text entries for a particular draw is 12 midnight of the day before the same. Every P100 value of the receipt entitles one to a text entry. The remaining fraction of P50 and above is rounded up for an additional text-entry. A single receipt however should have a value of not less than P100.

Balaga cautions senders against losing their receipt entries. The winning receipt and two photo-bearing IDs are the primary requirements in claiming the prize. A more convenient way of sending multiple raffle entries in just a single text is by availing of the 0778 service of Smart, Talk and Text and Addict Mobile subscribers. This system requires a minimum receipt amount of P350 for four entries. A maximum of 1,000 raffle entries per text with a charge of P1.50 per entry will be charged, meaning P1.50 is multiplied by the number of equivalent raffle entries depending on the receipt amount in a single text sent.
