LGU sponsors ISWM Training workshop |

JAGNA – EDGING its way to a cleaner and more environment friendly Jagna, the Local Government Unit (LGU) sponsored April 25, a training workshop for barangay and municipal Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM) enforcers at the Teodoro Galagar District Hospital (TBGDH) administration building. The training comes before a full ISWM implementation this May. Concerned for the impending waste problem in this bustling south-eastern gateway town to Mindanao, Mayor Exuperio Lloren instructed municipal ISWM action officer Engr. Peter Jamero to get the ball rolling for the local ISWM program. The enforcers from 33 barangays and their municipal counterparts along with barrio captains and barangay kagawads came to the training workshop. The training exposed the enforcers to the ISWM program and took on their duties and responsibilities as law implementors. Sangguniang Bayan (SB) member Senen Lloren in his introductory words, called on everyone to cooperate and participate in the government program on waste management. He bared that the program forms part of the local administration's mandated efforts to stop people unsustainable malpractice of solid waste disposal that may bring harm to humans and the environment. Engr. Jamero also detailed on the salient provisions of RA 9003 otherwise known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2001. He also stressed on the local policies in relation to the national implementation especially on the color-coded receptacles and the segregation of waste materials. Finally said that the municipality is going to strictly implement the “no segregation, no collection policy of the LGU. |
