Mr. Palengke commits P2M for city markets

MARKET man Senator Manuel “Mar” Araneta Roxas II, pledged P2M for the city markets as he came over to Tagbilaran to speak before the general assembly of the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Friday, March 17. Mr. Palengke, who arrived at the Tagbilaran City Airport was met by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional director Asteria C. Caberte and Councilors George R. Olario, Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) economic enterprise committee chair.

Also there were SP members Jose Antonio Veloso, Leonides Borja, Urbano Lagunay and Edgar Bompat, on behalf of City Mayor Dan Neri Lim. Also there was DTI Bohol Provincial Director Ma. Elena Arbon and Norris Oculam, BCCI president. From the airport, Sen. Roxas, who banked on market vendors during his candidacy proceeded to the Tagbilaran City Central Public Market (TCCPM) Jose L. Evardo, City Market Supervisor, market personnel and the officers of the Tagbilaran City Federated Public Market Vendors Association (TAFEPMAVEA) welcomed him.

Citing Mayor Lim's request for assistance on the improvement of the market, the market man then committed the amount, but explained that the City government needs to identify the programs or projects to be implemented. On this, market supervisor Evardo said that some amount may help the city build the water reservoirs of the markets, which he underscored as immediate need. Roxas, widely acknowledged for his role in tourism promotions and on information technology (IT) is also known for his Personal Computers for Public Schools (PCPS) I and II programs.

In his message to the BCCI, Roxas spoke about business opportunities for the countryside to the members of the BCCI. The activity also highlighted the re-orientation on the Chamber movement, ratification of the BCCI By-Laws and Constitution and mass oath taking of the new members. (Fiel Angeli E.
