Guv's fair-haired boy at PNP off to Manila stint

The faired haired boy of Gov. Erico Aumentado in the provincial hierarchy of the Philippine National Police is leaving the province of Bohol in favor to a new assignment in Manila. Bohol PNP Police Director Arturo Evangelista relinquished his top police post here to pave the way to another Boholano in a movement that is part of a major revamp in the Philippine National Police (PNP). Replacing PSsupt. Evangelista in leading the provincial police force here is Philippine Military Academy graduate, PSSupt. Edgardo Ingking, Camp Dagohoy sources revealed. Evangelista is a graduate of the Philippine Police Academy. He started as member of the Pasay City Finest until he was assigned at the Aviation Security Command at the Mactan International Airport in Cebu . His mother was from Ubay while his father was from Talibon. This explained why he was the personal choice of Gov. Aumentado when the PNP provincial post was left vacant as a result of the retirement of Police Supt. Sancho Bernales.

Ingking reportedly assumed his post during simple ceremonies last night with Senior Chief Superintendent Silverio Alarcio, Police Regional Director at Camp Dagohoy presiding the rites. PSSupt Ingking once headed the Tagbilaran City Police Station and eventually was promoted to the position of Assistant Provincial Commander when PSSupt. Sancho Bernales took the local police top post. Before coming home to assume his Bohol post, Ingking took the lead in securing the peace and order situation in Mandaue City in Cebu where Mayor Teodoro Ouano picked him over a handful of other candidates. After his Mandaue City stint, Inting took on the task as part of the United Nation's peace-keeping forces sent to Kosovo.

Meanwhile, PSSupt Evangelista, who was trained in aviation security provision abroad was groomed to lead the aviation security group at the Manila International Airport (MIA). Governor Aumentado himself admitted he has personally endorsed Evangelista to MIA general manager Alfonso Cusi. Before his Bohol assignment, Evangelista coordinated and led aviation security operations in Cebu and in Davao. The revamp, contrary to speculations, has nothing to do with the seeming inability of the police to curb the rising crimes that has haunted the Bohol and Tagbilaran City lately. In fact, newspaper reports said PSsupt. Evangelista is just one of the 33 provincial commanders and city chiefs of police all over the country who would be moved to other assignments.

Sources privy to the Post revealed also that Evangelista is one of the 26 police officers who would be replaced after satisfactorily completing their tour of duty. The revamp orders were signed by PNP Chief Director General Oscar Calderon, Depputy Director general Avelino Razon and PNP Directorate for personnel Director Nicolas Pasinos.
