What is de la Serna up to in calling congressmen crooks?

It really boggles the mind what is Victor de la Serna up to in going to town and calling our three congressmen as crooks. What he was saying the past week shattered the myth that our congressmen are the lords and masters of the people and they are beyond criticism. Be that as it may, it is always entertaining to hear de la Serna doing his thing let alone regarding the conduct of public officials in the discharge of their public functions.

We are almost tempted to conclude that just because elections are just around the corner, every politician worth his marbles is fair game to the full sunburn of verbal attacks from crusading individuals like de La Serna. And rightly so. This renders de la Serna's tirades suspect from the very beginning. But he doesn't care either. Elections or no elections, there's no denying that Dela Serna is known to mean what he says and says what he means. Whatever is de la Serna's agenda, we can only say that he is just being true to form: he calls a spade a spade.

It is also heartening to note that our three congressmen-Edgar Chatto, Roberto Cajes and Eladio Jala, despite the vicious accusations remain cool and calculating in their answer to de la Serna's tirade. We were expecting a confrontational retort from the three Bohol solons. But no, instead of being combative, they managed to project an image of being cool under fire Is it because they are innocent as charged? Or have they grown mature as politicians and therefore they have become immune to public criticisms which they considered as part of the territory. As for de la Serna's bombast, we hope that it remains to be pure and simple rantings of a self-styled crusader.
