Bud Spencer of Bohol politics passes away

 

Board Member Cariso Camacho died just as the year was starting. He died of myocardial infraction. He was 51. Camacho was three-term mayor of Getafe before he ran and won as barangay captain of Poblacion. He was elected president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) town federation as expected and served as town councilor in 2002. Camacho became part of the team that gave reelectionist ABC provincial federation president Renato Lim a narrow victory in the last election. When Lim died, Camacho succeeded him being the executive vice president and served as ex-officio representative to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP).

Camacho was born on April 16, 1955

After finishing elementary at the Getafe Elementary School , he studied at the Urios College in Mindanao before coming back. He finished his Bachelor Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bohol in 1977. He passed the licensure examination for mechanical engineers in the same year. After working with the private sector, he returned to Getafe and first served as municipal development communications officer and zoning officer from 1982 to 1985. He won as vice mayor in 1987 and served as mayor from 1992 to 2001. His wife Theresa succeeded him in 2001 and is now on her second term. They have four children namely Cary, Casoy Sheun, Czar Magdalino III and Cydon. He is the elder brother of second district Board Member Ma. Fe Camacho-Lejos. The SP will pay tribute to Camacho in Monday's convocation. His interment is set on Jan. 12 in Getafe .
