Miss Bohol International 2006 Pageant

AS the Tigum Bol-anon sa Tibuok Kalibutan (TBTK) coasts around the corner, among the top preparations that have gone from moderate to feverish is the search for the 3rd edition of the Miss Bohol International Beauty Pageant. The TBTK comes with it major events when it sets to settle in Tagbilaran City on July 21-30, 2006 . This also coincides with the Sandugo Festival and the Bohol Day Festivities. According to Betty Veloso- Garcia, TBTK 2006 Chairperson that meetings with the TBTK committees and movers have been in progress.. Garcia revealed that several major events to be participated in by local and expatriate Boholanos while those homing in may also put in separate schedules for their groups, associations, organizations, affiliations.

The Search for Miss Bohol International, the Search for Outstanding Boholanos all over the World, TBTK Festival, Group Tours and Grand Homecomings of Colleges and Universities are among top activities. While the TBTK festival features celebrities with Boholano roots, cultural gems and talents in a venue where everyone gets a one setting treat, the 2006 Miss Bohol International Beauty Pageant is also another equally stunning night. Organized by the Chocolate Hills Lady Jaycees under JC Pureza Veloso- Chatto, it aims to pick out an outstanding Boholana who possesses beauty, poise, and personality and can best epitomize the ideals of the contemporary Boholana. “She is also expected to be disciplined, determined and responsible for she will be traveling extensively to promote not only Bohol as a prime tourist destination and ideal business haven. She also is expected to speak in behalf of her advocacy whether on the environment, health, education and other socio- cultural issue that needs to be supported'” contest organizers said.

Miss Bohol Int'l 1999 Chan R. Cajegas along with Paulette Bolofer (Michigan) 1st RU, Theresa Cumba (Illinois) 2nd RU, Bambi Evardone, (Bohol), 3rd RU and Louella Pantoja (Loon) 4th RU with 1999 Miss Universe First Runner Up, Miriam Quiambao and the other beauty delegates from around the world are expected to grace the night. Chan Cajegas, a tall and svelte Physical Therapy student from the University of Bohol and representing the Boholanos of Eastern USA was the first winner of the title and was crowned in July 1999 by no less than Miriam Quiambao. The 2003 Miss Bohol International crown went to a stunning Latina beauty of Mexican- Filipino lineage, Maya Calope Galvan, who represented Tagbilaran Association of Northern California. Both beauty queens are expected to grace the 3rd edition of the pageant.

More than a dozen beauty delegates of Boholano lineage from all over the country and from around the world are expected to converge in Tagbilaran City in July as they compete for Bohol 's most prestigious beauty title. Among the fabulous prizes at stake is a round- trip ticket from the Philippines to the USA or vice versa courtesy of Philippine Airlines. Highlights of the week-long event includes the Press Conference and Poolside Swimsuit Presentation at the Panglao Island Nature Resort on July 24, The Miss Talent Dinner- Show at the Bohol Tropics Resort and the San Miguel Beer Night w/ the Miss Bohol Int'l Beauties at the Atmospheres Disco, MetroCentre Hotel both on July 26. The gala Coronation Night would be at the Holy Name University on July 28. In between would be a hectic but fun series of rehearsals, public appearances, and video tapings.
