Budoy rocks Inabanga fiesta |
INABANGA – It was a high-spirited, rock-reggae-intensified vespers night as Budoy and his band Junior Kilat joined Inabanga's Battle of the Bands sponsored by the local government unit (LGU) headed by Mayor Josephine Socorro Jumamoy. The event was one of the highlights of this year's edition of the town's fiesta celebration in honor of its patron, St. Paul the Apostle. Eight bands from all over Cebu and Bohol aggressively showed their prowess in the competition to the delight of the fiesta-going crowd. Budoy heated up the atmosphere, sending even the young children clapping, head-banging or thumping their feet and joining him as he performed his very famous Buotang Ungo, Original Sigbin and Buwad, Suka, Sili and his other bestsellers. But there is more to head-banging in Budoy's music. He said listening intently to the lyrics is very important because only then can people realize the real message behind his songs. Fireworks punctuated the performances, giving the evening “visible” energy and dynamism that electrified the audience, Tambuli Band also performed before the start of the competition. Adding color to the rundown to the fiesta included the Lingaw-Lingaw sa Kabataan, Sumbagayot – the ultimate gay boxing competition, commercial tennis tournament, bangkathon in the motored and paddled categories, walkathon, a volleyball tournament, disco and the 1st Mayor Jumamoy Tennis Cup. But the highly successful and colorful fluvial parade reminded everyone that beyond worldly cares is a Being from whom mortals ask for graces and favors through the intercession of an ambassador – the patron saint. The different participating agencies and organizations made for the parade's success. As overall chair, Jumamoy led in all the preparations and the conduct of the activities themselves. She left no stone unturned in the preparations. She expressed gratitude to all the sponsors and donors and to all who contributed to the success of the fiesta activities – and above all to the Almighty for His blessings, graces, protection and guidance. She lauded the people, the St. Paul the Apostle parishioners, members of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB), Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB), Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and the Department of Education for being responsive and participative in all the endeavors and plans for a progressive Inabanga. |
