Tagbilaran residents give Lim 75% rating in poll |
Tagbilaran City residents have given Mayor Dan Lim a very high passing grade of 75%, indicating a high satisfactory rating for the mayor who is only on his second year in office. This was one of the results made public by the Holy Name University (HNU) Research Center last week regarding a survey conducted in the city last March 11-26. The respondents were asked the question: what can you say about the manner that Mayor Dan Lim is running the city. Of those polled, 75% said they were satisfied while only 6% replied that they were not satisfied. Some 19% of those asked were undecided, giving Lim a net rating of plus 69. Lim received the highest approval from respondents belonging to class E who gave him a 96% satisfaction rating while only 4% were undecided. None of the respondents polled in the bracket said they were not satisfied. The mayor also received a high 78% satisfaction rating from those in class D while respondents from class ABC gave him a 65% satisfaction grade. Female respondents were more satisfied, giving Lim 77% compared to 73% from male respondents. Commenting on the results of the survey, Lim said he was humbled by the high satisfaction rating given to him by those in class E. “They are the ones who deserve immediate and more attention,” Lim pointed out. The mayor, quoting the late President Ramon Magsaysay, said those who have less in life should receive more in law. Lim said that he considers the high approval rating as a challenge to do even better. “We still have much to do considering that we can only do so much in a period of two years,” he added. The mayor said that he hopes that the seeds for growth and progress that are being planted during his incumbency will bear fruit soon. “The most important thing for us to do is to assure our people that there is hope in the future. If they stop hoping, there is nothing more to expect,” he added. Lim's performance rating this year represents an increase from the satisfaction rating he received last year. In the survey conducted by the same institution last year, Lim received a satisfaction rating of only 71%. His 75% rating this marked a four-percent increase. Respondents who were undecided last year dropped from 25% to only 19% this year, indicating a clearer perception among residents on the mayor's performance. Yesterday, the mayor issued a challenge to residents to be actively involved in the cause towards the city's progress. “The real citizens are those who are aware not only of the services due to them but also of their responsibilities to the city,” the mayor stressed. |
