Jagna DCWs at 1st reg'l. confab

By: Gregorio A. Tavera

JAGNA – THIS town's day care workers (DCWs) along with Social Worker Franz Torrejos attended a day-long regional conference last April 28, 2006. Bohol Day Care Workers (BDCW) president, Marcionela Reyes who happens to be from here also came with the group. The Local Government Unit (LGU) under Mayor Exuperio C. Lloren, along with barangay captains now sent their preschool teachers to the confab and chipped in assistance for their participation. The town's delegation of 12 mostly from big day care centers formed part of 365 participants from Bohol . Bohol was the second largest delegation from among four provinces and 12 cities of the Central Visayas area. It may be recalled that Jagna day care schools took fourteen 5-star status centers, the highest from among Bohol 's 48 municipalities.

This early two regional DSWD high ranking officials validated the achievement as Lourdes Panerio and Pablita Gucor Gelig together with BDCW came for a day-long verification visit to the 5-star barangay day care centers. Both confirmed the accomplishment they saw as praiseworthy. During the conference, Congressman Antonio Cuenco of Cebu City 's North District lauded the participants' sacrifices despite meager pay. He told the crowd at the spacious Cebu City Coliseum about a bill in Congress raising the monthly pay of DCWs to P5,900 considering the present cost of living.
