Fire hits 35-year old house

INABANGA – A post Lenten fire hit the 35-year old ancestral home of the Añana family in Barangay Lutao Tuesday.

Probers estimated the damage to the residence owned by former Sangguniang Bayan (SB) member Leodegario and Damiana Añana at P500,000. The blaze started at 10:30 a.m. Initial investigation showed that an electrical short circuit apparently caused the fire as it started from the ceiling. With the augmentation of Tubigon firefighters, the fire was declared under control at 11:05 . In less than an hour, the house was razed to the ground.

The incident is the fourth here since December. To prevent another or at least minimize damage, Mayor Josephine Socorro Jumamoy said the local government unit (LGU) is now in the process of purchasing a fire truck. In the meantime, she is calling on her constituents' “bayanihan” spirit. She also asked them to always check their house wiring. Añana said that though they felt the emptiness and helplessness in their hearts, humbly accepted the incident and said to lift everything to the Lord and expressed gratitude to the Him for nobody was hurt in the said incident.
