Bohol 's newest hi-school sets 1st gradt'n exercises

THE province's newest public secondary school, Loon South High School in barangay Cuasi, Loon carves a name for itself by producing its pioneer batch of graduates who will march to get their diplomas today, April 9, 2006 at 9:00 in the morning.

Loon Mayor Cesar Tomas M. Lopez, M.D. and Vice Mayor Edwin R. Ladeza will lead municipal officials in welcoming Cong. Edgar M. Chatto, Bohol first district representative; Dr. Carolino B. Mordeno, DepEd Central Visayas Regional Director; Dr. Cerina C. Bolos, Bohol Schools Division Superintendent; and other DepEd provincial officials expected to the first commencement exercises. A total of 62students are set to take the stage as graduates for SY 2005-2006. The only public secondary school in DepEd Loon South District (North District has three secondary schools), the Loon South High School started accepting enrollees in June 2002. This was made possible through the development program for the education of its citizenry by the administration of Mayor Yul Lopez. He was supported by Rep. Edgar Chatto.

The late Kag.Clovis Lopez Nazareno, authored SB Resolution No. 01-178 which called for the creation of a public secondary school in the southern part of Loon to serve barangays Basdacu, Cabadug, Lintuan, Pig-ot, Tangnan, Cuasi, Tontonan, Taytay and Song-on. The benevolence of Salinas-Floren clan led by its representative, retired high school teacher Saturnina F. Redillas to donate a permanent school site. Chatto provided funds for the school's infrastructure development. A DepEd regional official said that the school's establishment was considered special for two reasons: its was not applying as annex school and Loon did not apply every time a year is offered.

Forming part of the activities is the awarding of Plaques of Recognition to Loon South High School's prime movers led by Hon. Edgar M. Chatto; Clovis L. Nazareno through his wife, Ma. Linda Segovia-Nazareno; Salinas-Floren Clan through Mrs. Saturnina F. Redillas; Mrs. Carmela Restificar, LSHS acting principal SY 2002-2003; Mrs. Aquilina G. Peñaranda, Loon South District supervisor, SY 2001-2002; Atty. Raul P. Barbarona, vice mayor and presiding officer of the Eighth Sangguniang Bayan, Mrs. Leona O. Cagande, current teacher-in-charge of LSHS; current regular/permanent teachers: Ms. Florabel M. Castañares and Ms. Marilyn C. Leones; curent LGU-paid teachers: Ms. Josefina S. Quintano, Ms. Peligrina P. Carnece, Ms. Rudita C. Hora, Ms. Lecila L. Masas, Rito R. Lanzaderas; Ms. Hanna Lee G. Mejorada, pioneer teacher, June 2002-October 2005; Ms. Eva Linda S. Calma, pioneer teacher, June 2002-November 2005 and Ms. Gina M. Pergamino, , pioneer teacher, June 2002-August 2002.
