Bohol has 12 new lawyers

DAYS of torment are over for at least 12 Boholanos who have gallantly cleared the Bar, arguably one of the country's toughest tests. So far, only the 12 names have been floated to the Post, and yet many believe the number could go higher. Some Bohol students also carve their own niches in other far-away schools, at times dulling their achievements. This year, Holy Name University (HNU) contributed again to Bohol 's roster of new lawyers by producing 7 of the 12 confirmed to have successfully hurdled the torturous months of angst.

HNU's Menedio Thadeus P. Bernido, Jerome R. Bomediano, Roco T. Lamanilao and Rochelle D. Mahinay passed along with Buena Kristine M. Orcullo, Jonhess O. Pasilbas and Arturo A. Piollo II. Bohol 's other schools offering Bachelor of Laws each contributed a successful passer. Joseph P. Baton, who started his freshman and sophomore at HNU transferred to Bohol Institute of Technology until he graduated and passed the test. On the other hand, showing it could not be left behind, University of Bohol also had Armand D. Tirol's name along the list. Alissa Ann T. Lim, of Tagbilaran City and who was studying at Ateneo de Manila University also made it to the list. She is daughter of lawyer Alexander Lim. Simon Peter S. Jalad of Alburquerque Bohol who was enrolled at the University of San Carlos in Cebu also made it. He is also the son of Judge Alfredo Jalad. With this year's record number of examiners as confirmed by the Judicial Bar Council at 5,610, the national passing percentage for the batch of new lawyers came as high as 27.2%. Total number of passers for 2005 numbered 1,526.
