Ubay ups market income by 20%

.DETERMINED that it can't just fold its arms while seeing nearby Talibon assert its economic superiority, Ubay embarked on an aggressive economic comeback: raising its market income to 20% from last year's figures. This happens despite pending business permits renewal of some stall occupants who could not yet reconcile their new contracts.

Municipal Treasurer Diocesito Butawan bared this to the Post, adding that the figures in the first two months of 2005 was upped in the 2006 figures. Butawan added that Ubay Mayor Eutiquio Bernales has assigned Carlos Delima as supervisor and Executive assistant on Economic Enterprises Rustico Jumao-as to talk to the stall owners to settle their problems. Butawan said they may ask to declare the stalls vacant as soon the deadline set by the Delima and Jumao-as team ends and the occupants fail to settle their contracts.

The Sangguniang Bayan could declare the stalls vacant if no occupants could not wrap up their business renewals on time. Even then, local officials are positive that the town could redraw its economic charts in the year. In an interview, municipal economic authorities shared that investors have sent feelers following the town's aggressive campaigns for more investments. The pronouncement was supported by Butawan who said investors have sent their representatives to the town to map out their chances of economic viability. While he did not name any, he said investors from as far as Manila , Davao and Cebu have signified interest in the town's market and deposit potential.

Ubay is Bohol 's biggest, population wise and earns the corresponding high budget. In recent years, Ubay has signified its intent on becoming Bohol 's second city, despite a similar intent aired by neighboring Talibon. Talibon recently upgraded their municipal classification to first class, the only one town in Bohol that has so far reached such classification.
