14-yr-old inventor rises from Jagna

A 14-year-old boy claims the slot as the newest Dungog-Kaliwat Jagnaanon pride and young inventor. The young achiever, Joernie Olivar, is a sophomore student of Faraon National High School (FNHS) who never aspire for the world's highest award but became incidental scientist from his gross eagerness to discover something useful to human beings. His invention won in the Region VII tilt on Science Investigatory Project individual category for private and public high schools on November 28-29 in Cebu City. Joernie is the son of Ernesto and Luz Olivar of barangay Looc.

He invented a water coloring substance out of home-grown materials under the tutelage of his mentor-trainor Candelaria Custodio, which won the school level search and climbed up to the recently-concluded regional contest. Escorted by his mentor, Joernie made a courtesy call at the 6th Sangguniang Bayan of Jagna on its regular session Monday last week. Before the local legislators, the young inventor briefly presented the procedural scheme on the production of his winning invention and a set of documentary evidence that he neatly posted on a three-fold wooden board. Speaking in behalf of the FNHS family, Custodio thanked the strong support of the local government unit led by Mayor Exuperio Lloren as she proceeded in asking for more financial and moral succor for the coming national level competition to be held in Baguio City sometime in February 2008.
