A barangay treasurer and a fiesta-goer were killed in separate shooting incidents in the towns of Clarin and Inabanga last week. A scheduled practice for the Christmas party in Barangay Bacani, Clarin was marred by the killing of Isidra Poquita, 43, married and barangay treasurer of the said place. Poquita was walking on her way to the practice about 7 pm when she was shot numerous times. She sustained injuries on different parts of her body including her side, back and hand.
The victim was rushed to the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (CGMH) in Tagbilaran but she expired about 12 midnight . Four days earlier, a man died after he was shot during a drinking spree in Barangay Cawayan, Inabanga in the store owned by the barangay captain. Initial reports said Onofre Anunciado jr., 51, a native of Barangay Cawayan was drinking with the barangay captain of Nahawan, Clarin outside the store of barangay captain Leonardo Conson about 7:50 pm last Dec. 8. Without notice, two suspects approached the victim and repeatedly shot the victim with a .45 caliber revolver.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of his body resulting in his instantaneous death. After the shooting, the suspects casually walked away from the scene of the crime. They joined two other men who were waiting for them with two motorcycles a short distance from the murder scene. The four then left aboard the two motorcycles away from the place as though nothing happened. Meanwhile, a 71-year-old man died in his home after he was hit by a motorcycle in Sierra-Bullones town. The fatality was identified as one Ruperto Hilot, a native of Barangay Del Pilar, Pilar town. Hilot died in his home about 3 am last Dec. 10. Investigators learned that Hilot was bumped by a motorcycle driven by one Valer Pojas in Sitio Concepcion.
