Police scores anew on hi-way robbers

G-Hernandez-Police operatives here scored anew on highway robbery suspects, with Police Senior Inspector George Cana, the municipal police chief, on the lead, gaining commendation from Provincial Police Director Edgardo Ingking. Again, the Provincial Police Office attributed the accomplishment to their Oplan Sumpo Krimen. The local police team arrested three highway robbery suspects who forcibly divested two residents of barangay East Ulbujan of their cellular phones and other personal belongings on December 5.

At around 8:10 in the evening, the victims- -Maria Betsy Ranario Galacio and Maria Rowena Galindo, were relaxing along the highway when the suspects on board a motorcycle approached them and alighted from the vehicle then poked guns on the victims and snatched their cell phones and other valuables. The suspects then hurriedly boarded on their motorcycle and fled back to the direction leading to Tagbilaran. With the assistance of one of the victim's brother, Basilio Urboda, they contacted by phone, the municipal police station and reported the incident.

PNP elements led by Cana immediately put up a checkpoint just in front of the municipal building, and minutes later, the suspects where caught. Recovered from the suspects were the victims' cell phones- - Nokia 8359, Nokia 2300, Nokia 3315, a sony i-Pod, one head set, a Seiko 5 wristwatch, lighter and one sachet of cream conditioner. The suspects also yielded a fake .357 magnum revolver, a Smith and Wesson revolver with one live ammunition without serial number from one of the suspects identified as Rudolfo Ombrosa Caberte and one Smith and Wesson revolver with one live ammunition without serial number from the other suspect, Jessie Alfar Cubrado, which were allegedly used in the crime.

The Police also confiscated the red Honda XRM motorcycle without plate number that the suspects boarded during the incident. The third suspect, Charlie Caberte Balili, owned it. It was impounded at the police station for further investigation. Later Police searched the U-box of the motorcycle and found a plate number which indicated ILO 1082 and the motorcycle's registration receipt reflecting the owner as one Pepe Subrado of Purok 2, Poblacion, Municipality of Pilar . Ingking lauded the municipal PNP team for their prompt action upon receipt of the report which led to the immediate solution and arrest of the three suspects. On this, the responding police team received commendations and cash incentives during a ceremony at Camp Dagohoy ground. Ingking had, earlier, assured the Boholano people that the community's cooperation will help abate and prevent criminalities in the province.
