Police operatives arrested a suspected drug personality following a raid in Inabanga town last week. The suspect was identified as one Reynaldo Almerol, 34, married and a resident of Barangay Ilaud, Inabanga town. Almerol was arrested during a raid conducted by elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Bohol at his house about 6 am last Dec. 12. According to PO2 David Inerina of CIDG-Bohol, the raid was carried out by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Irma Zita Masamayor of the Regional Trial Court Branch 52 based in Talibon town.
The raid was carried out peacefully and was witnessed by barangay officials of Ilaud. During the raid, the policemen recovered 10 sachets of suspected shabu granules and a caliber .38 revolver. The suspect was brought to the Provincial Police Office in Camp Dagohoy , Tagbilaran City and detained at the PNP lock-up jail. Charges were filed against the suspect for violation of Republic Act 8294 and Republic Act No. 9165. As this developed, a senior citizen became the latest victim of the swindling racket known as budol-budol.
The victim was identified as one Lilia Capayas, 75, a resident of Barangay Bool, Tagbilaran City. According to the victim's narration to investigators, she went to buy medicines at drugstore along CPG Ave. about 10 am last Dec. 12. While she was making the purchase, a man approached her and introduced himself as a certain Engr. Cabrera. The man told her that he knew her child and that he needed her assistance to buy something. Two men then joined them and invited the victim to go with them to a restaurant in Pook Pantalan. After a few moments, the victims sweet-talked the elderly lady to part with her P10,000 cash and jewelry valued at P60,000. Elements of the Tagbilaran PNP issued a warning to residents about the operation of swindling gangs particularly during the holidays.
