Brgy dad killed in Loay, another shot in Danao

A barangay councilor was killed in Loay town while another was shot in Danao town as barangay officials elected in the Oct. 29 elections started serving their terms of office. The fatality was identified as one Raymundo Solis, 44, a native of Barangay Sagnap, Loay town. His alleged assailants were identified as his own father, Melchor, 65, a resident of Sagnap, and his uncle, Monico, 56, a retired Army personnel who is residing in Barangay Bonbon.             Initial reports revealed that the victim was celebrating his victory as no. 2 kagawad of Sagnap at about 9 pm last Sunday when his father and his uncle suddenly arrived.  The newly elected councilor succumbed to repeated stabbed wounds allegedly inflicted by his father and uncle. Raymundo was declared dead on arrival at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran. The suspects are presently detained at the Loay PNP lock-up jail. PO3 Jefredo Apac of the Loay PNP told Station DyTR that the motive for the killing is family trouble. He declined to give details however. A case of parricide has been filed against the two suspects after the inquest hearings held last Thursday.

Meanwhile, another kagawad landed in the hospital when he was shot by three still unidentified suspects in Danao town. The victim was identified as one Marino Lofranco, 37, married and a native of Barangay Nahud, Danao.      Lofranco was celebrating with friends at a videoke pub about 8 pm last Monday when three men alighted from a blue Yamaha Crypton motorcycle that had no plate number. One of the suspects immediately fired at Lofranco who was hit on his left shoulder. While the suspects fled in the direction of Sagbayan town, the victim's companions rushed him to the Tagbilaran. Danao police investigators are still looking into the motive for the shooting.
