TBTK chair to meet Boholanos in Europe

Inspired by the success of 2006 Tigum Bol-anon in Bohol , Boholanos from all over the world now look forward to a grand global homecoming for Tigum Bol-anon Tibuok Kalibutan (TBTK) 2009. Boholanos away from home also get additional inspiration from an IKEA Ad statement, “the home is the most important place in the world”.  Indeed, holding a festivity of such magnitude as the TBTK at home deserves our best shot, according to TBTK Chairperson Betty Veloso-Garcia. This precisely is the reason why she is back in harness to start the campaign promotion for the fourth TBTK  set on July 16-26, 2009 . With about two years to get things done, Garcia and the TBTK prime movers plan to travel the world to bring the message across to all Boholanos- -wherever they are based. For a start, Garcia went to Germany on October 10 with two Boholana beauties, 2006 Miss Philippines-World Anna Maris Igpit and the first Mrs. Bohol International, Socorro Sarabosing-Parras. They were invited to grace the Search for Mrs. Bohol–Europe pageant held October 13 where 14 Boholanas now based in different countries of the European Union vied for the title. During the event, Garcia delivered an inspirational message, while Parras crowned the winner. Heading the Boholano community in Germany is Rosemarie Marapao-Bruening, a nurse connected with a German Medical Institution.  Bruening is also actively involved in Filipino-European Organizations.

Boholano expatriates in Europe comprised a big delegation during the 2006 TBTK Global Homecoming.  They were fond of recollection of meeting long-lost friends, of seeing first -hand the progress and development taking place in their home-province, of being accorded the VIP treatment and warm reception by boholano folks. “Indeed, it was a one-moment-in-time affair and they look forward to its next staging in 2009,” according to Garcia. Garcia is receiving similar invitations to grace social gatherings of  Boholano communities in Australia and New Zealand , Hongkong and  in  Middle East countries,  in the United States and Canada , and even in Africa . In the past, TBTK campaign promotion was limited within the Philippines and North America , as suggested by  the  Confederation of Boholanos in the United States and Canada (CONBUSAC).

However, since its third staging in 2006, it has become truly an activity of global  proportion which, Garcia said ,” will be wider in scope on the fourth TBTK Global Homecoming in 2009. TBTK 2009 will be based on the theme that has relevance to environmental protection, considering that Bohol is now the country's top tourist destination. “We must be one in preserving our natural wonders, to make Bohol clean and green where programs like reforestation, urban tree planting, promoting ecological balance, preservation of flora and fauna, marine life and enhancing nature's beauty are encouraged. There is more that TBTK can do if the Boholanos can be united in our mission, vision, goal” Garcia said.
