Experts say, to acquire a green mind-set one need to be committed to doing things a little or lot differently and less convenient. Have you thought of settling in a smaller house near the city where one can walk or ride a bike? The amount of energy used per person will be reduced significantly, if you consider dividing your big house and rent out the other half. If you can, buy a hybrid car, but it is best to drive less, cycle and walk more or transit more. It is better to vacation within driving distance or takes a train than travel by airplane. Study shows that vegetarians emit roughly half carbon than meat eaters besides being healthier.
Buying local and in-season foods make a big difference. Have smaller parties and be less wasteful.Your health is better, your budget is better, and you're not putting out any carbon dioxide. The choices you make in heating and cooling your home,acquiring fewer things and making the ones you own last longer are some of the most impactful things you can do. According to Erik Assadourian director for Worldwatch Institute, "The healthier we live and the more sustainable and lower impact lifestyle we have, the better off the individual society and planet would be."
