At least 11 persons were injured after a Tagbilaran-bound Southern Star bus crashed into a portion of a treacherous bridge in Dagohoy town, Bohol early morning Thursday. The Dagohoy Police said the accident occurred at about 6 a.m. in Barangay Malitbog, Dagohoy. An initial police investigation showed the Southern Star Bus (No. 12085), driven by Roberto Saga, hit the approach of the Malitbog Bridge. At least 10 of the passengers, along with the driver, were injured and rushed to hospitals in Carmen, San Miguel and Dagohoy towns. Police were verifying claims by passengers that the bus was speeding as it headed for Tagbilaran City from Talibon town.
Injured passengers were Alex Alinapon of Poblacion, Talibon, Bohol; Maria Fe Lorete of Malitbog, Dagohoy, Bohol who was brought to Carmen Hospital in Carmen, Bohol for medical treatment and Crisostomo Rosales of Talibon, Bohol; Rosidanial Rosales of Talibon, Bohol; Teresita Rosales, 5 years old of Talibon, Bohol; Rowena Nugal of Trinidad, Bohol; Jose Elcanso of Talibon, Bohol; ElenitaVessara of Bilar, Bohol; LiezelAparri of Dagohoy, Bohol and Michelle Ampo of Dagohoy, Bohol who were all brought to Ramero Hospital, Tagbilaran City for immediate medical treatment and examinations. The conductor identified as Manuel Balagan, 47 years old, married alleged that his collections amounting to P3,000 and his cellphone P1,000 were stolen during the incident. The bus driver is now in the custody of Dagohoy police station pending filing of formal charges. (with report from Leo Udtohan, GMA 7 News)
