While the Provincial Health Office is calling on the people to help monitor and report any person suspected of being infected, provincial health officer Dr. Reymoses declared Friday that the province of Bohol is negative of the dreaded Ebola virus. PHO's optimism that the province is still free from this menace came following the deaths of more than a thousand affected by the disease that swept across African continent based on World Health organization's count. Cabagnot told the weekly press conference at Governor's Mansion Friday that the disease is already considered pandemic. He said that the disease can be infectious through “direct contact.” This is different from SARS and Middleeast Respiratory Syndrome-corona virus (MERS-CoV).
He has a piece of advice to avoid what he called “dangerous sex practices” especially those sexual encounters with women for money. Sea-based Filipino workers abroad are also vulnerable to this disease since every port the practice of engaging sexual encounter is evident, he said Ebola virus disease, the report said, is a kind of sickness called “Ebola hemorrhagic fever” which is derived from animals espcailly monkeys and some from primates. Symptoms exhibited by the disease include fever, sore throat, rashes, vomiting, diarrhea, the report said. Until now there's still no cure for the Ebola virus, he said.
