We started writing for this column a year ago today with the blessings of the late founder of this paper, BGlante and we tried our very best not to miss writing for this corner every Sunday thereafter. In fact, we did write for this corner last Saturday afternoon in time for the issue last Sunday. However, for the first time last week, our column did not come out despite the fact that we submitted our article through the e-mail last Saturday evening through Frony Narisma, graphics director of this paper. Alarmed why our column did not come out last Sunday morning, we called Narisma's phone who told us that our column was not published due to some technical problem with the e-mail. Our dear readers thought that this corner was already impeached, due to some alleged reports, from the opinion page of this paper when they no longer see our column. Well, they can now heave a sigh of relief.

So, we mark our first anniversary for this column today and with only one issue being missed and that was the issue last Sunday. We also thank our concerned readers who texted, communicated with us and sent their reactions through our e-mail address and those who greeted us elsewhere in this issue. We will assure our dear readers that we now double our efforts not to miss writing for this column every issue of this paper onwards. We now have the two e-mail addresses of this paper and the contact numbers of the people whom we will verify if our article was duly receive in order to ensure that this corner will come out every Sunday and will become part of your day. Please continue sending your reactions and communicate with us through letters and our e-mail as it will inspire us to even write more in the issues to come.

Our supposed column last Sunday was all about the charter change as floated by Malacanang. Let us state it point blank, whoever dictated Pres. Pnoy to be open to a charter change in his administration is delusional because it was grounded on the wrong premise. But if ever the President will push for a charter change in order to push for the establishment of a federal government, then it will have our support. Unfortunately, he is seeing the charter change in a different perspective. According to reports, the thinks that there is a public clamor for him to continue as President beyond his six-year term limit that is why he is now amenable to amending the Constitution. This is similar to his delusion of alleged “reforms” achieved under his presidency.

The scenario for PNoy's another term in office floated in the news the other week yet. It seems that it is a well-orchestrated effort by the Palace. Perennial presidential aspirant Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, who is now featured on television's campaign ad (at the expense of the government, of course) hinted on the idea of a second term for Pres. Pnoy. We really cannot take his statements squarely considering the presidential ambition of Mr. Roxas. Whatever he says, there is a personal agenda behind it. If the presidential election will be held tomorrow, we declare without batting an eyelash that Boholanos will never elect Roxas as president, contrary to what others claimed.

Look how this maneuver seemed to be well-orchestrated. The pathetic DILG secretary claimed that there was a clamor to support for the continuance of “daang matuwid”. In response, Sec. Edwin Lacierda said Malacañang was initially cold on the term extension. Lacierda reiterated the President's position of being opposed to any amendment to the constitution. A day later, Press Sec. Herminio Coloma re-assured that Pres. Pnoy has no intention of staying in power beyond the single six-year term. Then the next day, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte contradicted it, saying Aquino could still change his mind and may ultimately give in to the voice of his “bosses”—the people.

Truly, Pres. Pnoy confirmed later that he is now open to charter change to amend the constitution being drafted and approved during the term of his late mother, former Pres. Cory Aquino, who herself had consistently opposed the idea of a charter change. Pnoy's reason for supporting the charter change: “I have to listen to my bosses” (the Filipino people). Well, Pres. Pnoy might be probably hearing his own voices and not his bosses. Because the main reason for his charter change is not only to continue his “daang matuwid” but also to check the powers of the Supreme Court. Pres. Pnoy perhaps thinks that the judiciary appears to be using its powers of judicial review to check on the executive and legislative branches without restraint. He was earlier discussing about the so-called judicial reach wherein both congress and the executive may act, but they can be punished anytime.

But what could be the agenda of Roxas in pushing for a charter change and extend the term of Pres. Pnoy? We humbly submit that with the presidential ambition of Roxas in mind and considering that Roxas has no change of winning in a presidential election, he will just settle to be Pnoy's running mate in the 2016 presidential polls. Roxas cannot simply run and lost to Vice Pres. Binay in 2016. That is already a foregone conclusion. But with Pres. Pnoy still having his second term in 2016, Roxas can still hallucinate to make a maneuver in capturing the presidency, in one way or the other. We were told that this is what homosexuals really do.
