In the book of Proverbs 29:2 it says, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.” This biblical statement stipulates transformational leadership in the seat of government or any authority position for that matter. When those who are sitting upon the seat of power are truly God-fearing and committed to the principle of God's Word, then the people would be able to see real and genuine transformation and then rejoicing and prosperity comes upon the nation. However, when the wicked or corrupt leaders are the ones in power, they would likely ravage the nation for their own vested interest. This is exactly what is happening in our country. Corrupt leaders whose vested interest is to perpetuate themselves in power so they could all the more suck much blood like leech or we may call them as political vampires. From the national level down to the local government units of our governmental system, graft and corruption is very rampant and prevalent. The “culture of corruption” is like a cancer that slowly kills the nation in all respects. It's not just the economy that is ruined but the whole system shall be destroyed. The life of the nation is at stake here. The nation shall be plunged into the abyss of destruction if there is no genuine change and transformation among our people and leaders. The current scandal of PDAF and DAP are just classic examples of so many anomalous transactions in the government. For so many years and decades that this nation and its people have been politically raped by these unscrupulous politicians. What will be the future of our nation if our leaders of today are corrupt and evil?
The change that we are seeking for must start from our own selves. We cannot change the system unless that transformation should start from within the heart of every individual. We have now reached the level where graft and corruption is considered to be as a culture. And the root cause of this evil is greed. God's word says, “The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil” (1Timothy 6:10). The greediness of heart is what makes the person to steal. The Bible says that “the heart of man is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; who can discern it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). The Word of God reveals that none of us have the inherent power to change and save ourselves from sin. That's the reason why we need a Savior, a Redeemer and through Jesus Christ alone that we could be save and transformed. The power of the gospel must be experienced by every Filipino if we want to see real change in our society and nation. The clarion call of the hour is a kind of leadership that will certainly bring about genuine transformation from the inside out. We need to have leaders who are truly committed to God and to the Filipino people. We need leaders from the national down to the local level who are transformed within by the power and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Leaders who would take the interest of the Filipino people over and above their own interests. However, the way it is happening now, such a noble dream becomes a nightmare because the exact opposite is what is taking place right now. But we should never give up and lost hope. We must speak out and proclaim that there is hope in Christ. There is hope for this nation. Change can happen and this nation would become great again.
We need to put up righteous leaders who are God-fearing that truly bring about transformation in our land. When corrupt leaders are in authority, the people shall mourn. Which means leaders who are evil and corrupt will sink the nation to the abyss of moral and economic bankruptcy. But when the righteous and godly leaders are in power, they bring blessings and prosperity to the people. Let us remain vigilant and keep our eyes watchful on the development of PDAF scandals. What we have seen is just a tip of the iceberg. This nation has been raped by unscrupulous and corrupt politicians. In the local levels, we are urging our people to be on guard and participate in building up communities for development and progress. We cannot just clasp our arms and doing nothing. We have to involve ourselves and help our government for the resolution of the problem. Let us be part of the solution to the perennial problem of our nation. Societal transformation is possible if only we allow the life-changing power of the gospel to transform us from the inside out. This is the call for transformational leadership, leaders who are transformed by the gospel and become a catalyst of change in their respective constituents.
