Getafe Councilor Antonio “Tonypet” Ouano who is the president of the Philippine councilors League Bohol chapter is vying for the second top post of the Visayas region during the national elections scheduled in Manila on March 5-7. At the same time, Ouano revealed the final list of “best” candidates for the PCL national elections headed by Paranaque Councilor actress Alma Moreno who is running for national chairperson. Ouano said that Moreno as national chairperson candidate is followed by lawyer Ramon Tabor (national vice-chairman), Israel “Boyet” Cruzado (national executive vice-president), Maybelyn Dela Cruz-Fernandez (national president), Benny Brizuela (national secretary-general), Perla Tumaliuan (national treasurer), Ariel Arceo (national auditor), Joaquin Emmanuel “Jay” Pimentel (national PRO), and Rogelio Montesclaros (national liaison officer). Ouano, who hails from Getafe town, also bared the list of candidates for the Visayas region, with Carmen “Ivy” Durano-Meca as vice-chairperson, himself as vice-president, Beethoven “Bembot” Bermejo (secretary-general), Wilson Gamboa Jr. (treasurer), Renante Dava (auditor), and Harris Christopher Ongchuan (PRO).
The Boholano councilor said that if all his teammates are elected into their respective posts, Bohol councilors could expect a better PCL national governance. Ouano has called on his fellow legislators in the province to rally behind his candidacy, saying that if he would get elected in a national PCL post he would do his best to make a difference in public service. “We will push for real transparency in the national PCL office.” “We have to make each PCL official accountable to our people and to their fellow legislators,” he added. He said that the past administrations in the national PCL directorate have not been that transparent in their governance. Ouano said that it was Moreno and PCL National Secretary-General Maybelyn Dela Cruz-Fernandez who worked hard so that cash donations from other local government units could be sent for Bohol. “I hope our fellow councilors in Bohol would place their support on the group of Alma Moreno who has a heart for the Boholanos,” Ouano said.
