Alturas Group in quake rebuild efforts to victims

With the relief operations for quake victims in Bohol now shifting to home rebuilding, the Alturas Group of Companies (AGC) is doing its part of extending help to the thousands of displaced families in the affected areas of Bohol whose houses were destroyed by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in October. The giant conglomerate sets aside a bigger amount to help rehabilitate the damaged houses and provide shelter to the homeless victims who are still living in makeshift tents. In its disaster rehabilitation program, a household or family whose house is totally damaged is given P10,000 worth of construction materials; while those with partial damage is given P5,000 worth of construction materials. The allocated amount was taken from the funds generated from the donations and contributions of several generous benefactors, mostly company suppliers and international multinational companies; private donors and other concerned citizens who want take part in the humanitarian efforts of the company.

As of now, there are about 900 listed beneficiaries (see partial list of names published in this paper) who are mostly living in the earthquake-ravaged areas of Cortes, Maribojoc, Antequera, Loon, Calape, Tubigon, Clarin, Sagbayan, Catigbian, Carmen, and other barangays. The AGC will target more 1,500 to 2,000 recipients of the rehabilitation project. The AGC is now going around to assess the extent of damage of the affected houses. When it comes to involvement in the community, AGC always lends a helping hand to those who are in dire need of assistance. Since time immemorial, the company has always been at the forefront of helping the less fortunate people. With the success of its humanitarian undertaking, AGC is grateful to the different partners and donors, who, in one way or another, supported and extended assistance to the company's mission.
