Three warehouses, residences looted under cover of darkness

Criminal elements have taken advantage of the two-day straight blackout experienced by the more than 1.3 million residents of Bohol Province and Tagbilaran City, looting three giant warehouses in the city and burglarizing several residential houses here. Police report showed that 2Go warehouse located along Upper San Jose Street in Barangay Cogon, this city, was looted by still unidentified suspects early morning Saturday. A source at the 2Go warehouse compound told the Post they are still making an account of the list of valuables carted away from burglars. Another source said that burglars took away cash money from 2Go warehouse. Later in the day, an unconfirmed police report indicated that YY Warehouse located in Dampas, this city, was looted by still unidentified suspects, taking away undetermined pieces of construction materials.

Another victim of looting was Fortune Bodega. It was not known whether burglars carted away chicken feeds or hog feeds. Meanwhile, residential houses have also been targeted by criminal elements. “Ang house sa akong cousin sa mabuhay village in dao natumpag tanang kural pag linog, every night jud tawn sila balik balikan sa mga kawatan, they end up hiring a night guard until mahuman ug kural....grabeha ani nila ui, way pili sa panahon,” wrote Desiree Mae, a Boholana based abroad who was notified of the ongoing crimes in Tagbilaran under the cover of darkness. Another Boholana posted this message on social networking site, Facebook: “Sa amuah balay sad naa daw 3 ka taw armado nisulod sad naka civilian kaduha ngbalikbalik gbie perte ka ngitngit raba. Nainform na sa polis pero if ever mubalik eala raba mga cp kay way bat. Grabeha najud mga taw karun.” In the wake of Yolanda’s onslaught in Tacloban City, residents looted malls and stores. Some expressed condemnation on this act but others cautioned that public should exercise more compassion than judgment. “Kanang mga klase sa tawo kawatan talaga yan wala nang pagbabago. Kung ang looting sa tacloban maintindihan ko because they need to eat, they need to survive, pero kanang kawatan diha sa tagbilaran putulan yan ng kamay,” wrote Edna Lovitos-Aves.
