Elusive drug personality falls

For several times, this drug personality, considered in police files as high value target, was elusive at best, but this time, his luck apparently ran out as city drug operatives finally caught up with him right in the heart of the city. According to police sources, the drug suspect identified as Gregorio Cabanes Argena, 28, jobless and a resident of Bool district, this city, was the subject of several attempts in the past after intense surveillance but he proved to be too slippery. However, in a raid conducted right outside the McDonalds outlet along H. Grupo and CPG Avenue at around 9:00 o’clock yesterday morning by city police operatives, the elusive target fell to police operatives who notice a suspicious looking person in the vicinity. As a drug personality, police have a hard time bagging the suspect after he kept on transferring his base of operations.

It was not until Saturday morning that he apparently lowered his guard leading to his apprehension. Other than a sizable volume of the prohibited drugs believed shabu, a .45 cal. was also found in his possession earning him an indictment for illegal possession of firearm other than violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Dangerous Drugs Act of 1972 a amended. The police tandem, composed of PO3 Sancho Tandugon and PO2 Mario Torrejos responded a police assistance call from the MCDonalds management after it reportedly was tipped off of the presence of a suspicious looking person in the vicinity. When the suspect noticed the presence of lawmen, he reportedly ran away to evade arrest. A brief chase ensued resulting in the arrest of the suspect. When frisked, it was found out that he was in possession of several sachet of prohibited drugs believed to be shabu, the .45 cal. pistol, one unit motorcycle and P16,000 in peso bills of different denominations and believed to be proceeds of his drug deals. The suspect is now locked up at the city jail and proper charges will be filed on Monday before the city prosecutor’s office.
