Under normal circumstances, the Arcays of Danao, Panglao town, could have chosen to remain low key. However, as they were thrust into joining other Panglaonons who are lured into building houses for sale or rent to meet the rising demand of more rooms, apartments and housing units in the island, they were forced to shed off their low profile stature in keeping with the times. Thus started the transformation in the life of Capt. Boy and Annie Arcay as they set to open two units, two storey model, to entice prospective home buyers into renting the houses. The Arcays’ entry into the real state business came at a time when the Dauis-Panglao area is hounded by news reports of bogus housing developers which according to latest accounts victimized quite a number of gullible house buyers particularly foreigners. In the case of the Arcays, there’s no doubt that they are putting their money where their mouths are.
True to their commitment to deliver what has been trumpeted in their web site, the project of the Arcays will have its blessing and inauguration on August 28 which incidentally is the feast of St. Augustine, Panglao’s patron saint. With the blessing rites, what is there to expect is that the housing developer is not of the “hao shiao” kind, unlike those who are strutting around peddling subdivided lots whose only claim of land ownership are partnership agreements with supposed lot owners. As to the Arcay home models, there’s no mistaking that it’s there along the stretch of barangay road in sitio Maug, barangay Danao, Panglao island. Locating the place is through the road beside the Panglao Elementary School in Poblacion and all the way to the Danao intersection from the barangay’s main road. Impressive or eye catching, we say without batting an eyelash, that they are both.
Whether it belongs to the high-end category, Mrs. Arcay chose not to categorize it at that. One thing sure, it is above average and any interested party can visit its site to see for themselves if the new homes are within their budget range. For the Arcays, it is a dream come true to have put their investment in a housing development like the one they constructed with their savings out of the income of her husband, a retired marine engineer. Now a harbor pilot in Surigao, Capt. Arcay is a junior officer of another Boholano boat captain Jesse Sales, incumbent vice mayor of Candijay town. After earning his own pile, Capt. Sales has since retired as head of Surigao’s harbor pilotage and chose to dabble in business with his Petron Gas Stations and Internet Cafes. Dubbed as The 4 Stars Homes, the Arcays two unit houses will be open for occupancy following its blessing on Wednesday. The Most Reverend Antonietto Cabajug, D.D., bishop of Surigao, and a family friend, was invited to administer the blessing ceremonies. Suppliers and other guests were also invited to the soft opening and blessing. Panglao Mayor Nila Montero will lead the town’s officialdom to grace the occasion.
