Pork scam links ex-Bohol solon

The ghost of billions of pesos worth of pork barrel funds that went to the pockets of senators and congressmen continues to hound even to those who were defeated in the May 2013 elections. In a special report of investigative website rappler.com, the name of former Bohol Rep. Roberto “Ondoy” Cajes has appeared in the list of congressmen and senators who released millions of pesos of people’s money to some non-governmental organizations (NGOs), all are linked to the P10-billion pork barrel scam that featured JLN Corporation. JLN stands for Janet Lim Napoles, the woman with multi-billion peso transactions with congressmen and senators. At one time, JLN even claimed that “We control the government.” A certain Buhay Mo Mahal Ko Foundation Inc., according to a Commission on Audit (COA) report, was a 2007 recipient of P9,700,000 funds taken from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of former congressman Cajes. Again in 2007, another NGO identified as Kapuso’t Kapamilya Foundation, Inc. received funding from Cajes in the amount of P12,610,000.

Then two years later, according to COA, Cajes released money from his PDAF worth P5.8 million to another NGO called Kabuhayan at Kalusugang Alay sa Masa Foundation. The total amount released from Cajes’ office was pegged at P28.13 million, all for alleged projects and programs implemented by NGOs which have been tagged as part of the P10-billion JLN pork barrel scam. According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, who first broke a series of exposé on the alleged money-making machine of senators and congressmen using Filipino taxpayers money, the sharing of the scam scheme is 40-60 in which 60% of the PDAF amount goes back to the sponsoring senator or congressman while the 40% is feasted by JLN Corporation. JLN Corporation has a list of purported projects and programs all for some agricultural enhancements in the country but turned out to be “ghosts.”

The latest scandal that featured JLN is when her daughter flaunted a multi-million dollar birthday party, the video of which has become a viral feature in Youtube.com, the world’s biggest and most popular video-sharing site. In the case of Congressman Cajes, he is yet to come out a list of projects or programs which were funded by his PDAF through the said three NGOs. Earlier, it was reported that former city mayor Dan Lim also received P10-million funds from Senator Jinggoy Estrada for some organic farming projects in Tagbilaran implemented by CARED Foundation, an unknown NGO. Research shows that the NGOs do not have offices in Bohol.
