Newly-minted City Mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap was elected last week as regional representative of the League of Cities of the Philippines representing Region VII. The convention and election was held at the Crowne Regency Plaza Hotel in Manila last July 18 to 20, 2013 in which the event was attended by the different city mayors all over the country. Even though Mayor Yap has just served the city for only 14 days, it did not hinder the other mayors to notice the leadership, sincerity, humility and the immense desire to serve of the new mayor. With the strong collaboration and partnership of the Provincial Government lead by Gov. Edgar M. Chatto and the undying support of Cong.Rene Lopez Relampagos, strengthened by the backing of the League of City Mayors of the Philippines, it was anticipated that the city’s growth and development is just a matter of time.
