Danao town to invest in human resource capability building

 

DANAO. – This town’s first lady Mayor Natividad R. Gonzaga said she wanted the town to invest in human resource enhancement through capability training measures. She issued this call in her speech during the 52nd Foundation Anniversary with guests --- Dr. Dixon Yasay, director, Governance and Leadership Institute of Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro City; Isabelito Tongco, who represented Gov. Edgar Chatto; Dr. Antonio Del Socorro, provincial agrarian reform officer; Congressman Aris Aumentado and others ---- to grace the historic affair. Vice-Mayor Tom Gonzaga, the son of the mayor, together with other town officials, was also present in the program. “The LGU upholds its commitment to zealously safeguard its mandate impinged in the Philippine constitution and the Local Government Code especially in the proper utilization of resources for the effective and efficient delivery of quality services to its constituency. It shall certainly not to tolerate any attempt to breach said responsibility,” the mayor pointed out.

To walk in the Matuwid na Daan, of PNoy, the training of the staff is of paramount importance, she said. She added that she is bound to organize capability trainings among the her people, who she called prime movers of good governance, including the academe, Barangay councils, civil society and the grassroots “to make them multi-skilled” to do the job they’re tasked to perform. To reinforce her program for empowering the people, she quoted former 3rdpresident of United States of America Thomas Jefferson (1797-1801), “The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government.” The town’s celebration and activities includes an array of agricultural products in Agri-Fair participated in by different barangays and groups held at Mayor Leopoldo Vitor Memorial Cultural Center beside the public market with the theme: “Mga Agi Sa Kakugi, Lintunganay sa Kalambu-an.”

The mayor also expressed thanks to all those who made the anniversary successful even as she urged everyone anew to work together to attain the vision in improving the lot of the Danaonons. For his part, Yasay delved on the history and important contribution of the famous Francisco Dagohoy to the land called Danao and Bohol in general, waging the longest rebellion the country has ever had. Congressman Aris Aumentado also had his piece of message. He told the jam-packed crowd that he will pursue what his father, the late Cong. Erico Aumentado, has started in several projects and programs, even as he promised to put up no less than Php 1 million for hospitalization program to augment the town’s continuing similar program as part of its commitment to social services. Included in the program was the turnover of the key as a symbol to care for the 1.8 klometers farm-to-market road called Orapa-P. Trazo-Macapagal road given by the Department of Agrarian REform (DAR) through Del Socorro to the town and to the Barangay concerned. Social services offered during the foundation day included dental services, therapeutic massage and cosmetology. The agri-fair was participated in by the NGOs, people’s organizations who showed their “Best in Product Display,” “Search for Danao Delicacy,” “ Tilapia Best Recipe,” “Best in Sales for Processed Food,” Poster making Contest, “Balak,” and cultural dance. Giving of prizes t the winners was done and followed by Variety Show in the afternoon. (RVO)
