2 killed in latest robbery in Albur

…while main suspect in series of heists provinciwide falls

At least six robberies the past two weeks in different parts of the province were believed solved with the arrest of the elusive suspect after a motorcycle chase with policemen belonging to the S-Bullones Police Station last Wednesday. But the apparent jubilation in police circles as a result of the arrest of the elusive robbery suspect proved short-lived as only last Friday, another possible rob incident marred the late afternoon peace and tranquility of barangay Bahi, in Alburquerque town when two siblings were gunned down while aboard a red multicab. Although robbery was not discounted by police probers, other angles are also being looked into. But one angle police are eyeing as possible robbery was the discovery of an empty bag found near the crime scene. According to Police Senior Inspector Joseph Berondo, Albur police chief, they are looking into the possibility that the brother and sister withdrew a huge amount from a bank account days before the brutal killing.

Killed while aboard their service vehicle were Ronelo Requierme, 23, and his elder sister Jovelyn, wife of a Norwegian national surnamed Trevil. The foreigner is in Norway and expected to go home today at their residence in barangay Toril. The Requiermes were from Sagbayan and have since settled in Alburquerque after the marriage to a foreigner of Jovelyn. Subsequent investigations showed that the Albur police are not making any conclusion to questions that the killing motive was robbery. They based their assessment on reports that a necklace of the lady victim was not taken away. A cell phone of one of the victims was also found nearby while a hand bag was emptied of its contents. The bag was traced to Jovelyn as the owner. The two, while on their way, to the inland barangay of Toril, were waylaid by two men in barangy Bahi, sitio, Pantad, on board a Ninja type motorcycle, color black. Another vehicle passenger who was not identified in the report is the younger sister of the two escaped. She escaped unhurt.

The suspects were apparently waiting for the red multicab and upon reaching a secluded area of the sitio road, overtook the vehicle and from there shot the victims. Wounded from bullet wounds of a 45 cal. pistol, the two were rushed to the Gov. Gallares Memorial Hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival. The shooting that killed the two also resulted in the damage of the vehicle’s windshield. At least eight slugs of 45 cal. pistol were found in the crime scene. According to police investigators, the local police station received a text message that two men were apparently waiting for the victims in a waiting shed along a diversion road enroute to barangay Toril. Then a subsequent text received by police showed the shooting incidence.

STRING OF ROB CASES

Meanwhile, a suspected robber and carnapper was captured by elements of the S-Bullones police station in a motorcycle chase that ended in barangay del Pilar, Pilar town late Wednesday afternoon. Cornered after the motorcycle the suspect was riding crashed in a blind curve in this Pilar barangay was Jestoni Bacalso, 25, whose known aliases are Albert Manlangit, Rakem Dapuay and Rasem Suete is said to be from barangay Nabuad, Inabanga town. Six victims of robbery-hold-ups showed up at the Gov. Gallares Memorial Hospital upon knowing that the suspect was confined for treatment of injuries resulting from the motorcycle accident. According to PO1 Concordio Tompok, Jr. of the S-Bullones police station, it was the same suspect who robbed a foreigner in Panglao whose wife is a Filipina. The wife of the foreigner said he was robbed by the suspect after buying San Miguel Beer from her store. The suspect then pointed a gun to her and carted away her laptop and undetermined amount of cash. Separate robberies in Bool and Boy district two weeks ago also pinpointed to Bacalso as the suspect. According to PO1 Tompok, it was not difficult for victims to identify the perpetrator because he woke no mask or bonnet when he pulled off the string of robbery cases.

According to the policeman, the suspect is now facing cases of robbery and illegal possession of firearm and illegal use of uniform. When arrested, the suspect was found to have carried a 45 cal. pistol. The illegal use of uniform was also slapped against the suspect after he was caught wearing a police uniform at the time the police gave chase while the suspect was aboard his motorcycle. Upon further verification, it was found out that the motorcycle was a carnapped one and it was owned by a policeman from the Dauis Police Station. What led to the capture of the impostor was the presence of the suspect in the vicibity of the town. Police were alerted of the counterfeit lawman wearing a patrol shirt with “Desert Storm” pants and aboard a motorcycle witrh no plate number. When confronted if he was real policeman, he showed no identification cards an inducation that he was a fake policeman. Sensing that that he was in trouble, he sped away towards P:ilar town only to be cornered in barangay dekl Pilar when the motorbike crashed.
