Thus, the battle cry of newly-minted City Mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap who will be installed into office in ceremonies today presided over by Executive Judge Suseso Arcamo of Regional Trial Court Branch 47. Also taking their oaths of office are Yap’s team mates in Pundok Panaghiusa. Scheduled at 8:00 am at the mayor’s office , Mayor Yap will be joined by elected city councilor belonging to his party. They are lawyer Adam Relson Jala, City Councilors Joseph Bompat, Jerry Pabe and 3-termer City Councilor Bebiano“Beben” Inting. Stripped of any pretentious trappings befitting a new public official, Yap, by noontime today, officially takes the city hall leadership the 6th elected city mayor, amid simple but fitting rites. According to observers, Yap’s election ushers a new hope and enthusiasm for the people who propelled him to victory against two equally worthy opponents.
Early on, Yap vowed that his administration is replete with a strong sense of vigor and dynamism as Tagbilaran gears up for growth and development. The different sectors of society have already expressed their undying commitment and support for the progress and success of the city, expressing their full trust and confidence under the stewardship of Mayor Yap. In one of his interviews, the youthful mayor conveyed a number of his priority programs; “I will personally make sure that all of the basic social services like water, health, education, livelihood, security, electricity and others, will be available to all constituents. Furthermore, the Yap administration will carry out the full implementation of the Citizen’s Charter as mandated by law, thus ensuring timely, amiable and proficient manner of administering to the different clients’ needs. City Hall personnel have already expressed their unconditional support with Mayor Yap’s governance, envisioning Tagbilaran’s forthcoming progress and success. Yap’s ascension to office comes at a time when this city marks tomorrow its 47th Charter Day.
