Bien Unido passport hub releases passports

The Bien Unido Passport Processing Office recently announced the release of 312 passports of applicants not only from Bohol but from Southern Leyte as well. Mayor Niño Rey Boniel who was instrumental in bringing the passport service to his town said that the service resulted to the opening up of some restaurants to cater to those applicants coming from Southern Leyte. This created job opportunities to people in Bien Unido. It may be recalled that Mayor Boniel partnered with the Department of Foreign Affairs Regional Consular Office to open a passport service satellite office in Biel UNIDO because many residents of the second district seek job opportunities abroad. Going to Cebu entails a lot of expenses. Residents from Southern Leyte also hailed the move of Mayor Boniel as this provides convenience to them. Regional Consular Director Elias Balawag inaugurated the passport processing office March 1 this year. The office is located at the Bien Unido public market. Mayor Boniel has been in the forefront in seeing to it that his sleepy town metamorphose into a service center so that tourists who come to Bien Unido who may have problems with their travel documents can avail of the service of the satellite office of the DFA. But most of all, this effort helps to provide cheap service and convenience not only to the residents of the town but also to outlying towns of the province and the nearby Southern Leyte. This is the first and only passport processing office in the entire province of Bohol.
