A murder case has been filed against gubernatorial bet and Carmen Mayor Conchita “Che” Toribio Delos Reyes by the wife of the victim who allegedly had seen Delos Reyes in possession of shabu. The estimated weight or volume of the shabu found in the bag of Delos Reyes was not indicated in the affidavit of the star witness in the murder complaint. Together with Delos Reyes, also made respondent in the murder charges lodged before the Provincial Prosecution’s Office on Friday was Arturo Sadmon Sugala, a member of Carmen police auxiliary group, who allegedly was Delos Reyes’ point-man for the planned murder of the victim, Rodito “Dito” Ronquillo, another member of Carmen’s police auxiliary. “Nga sa wala pa patya ang akong bana, siya nipadangat diri kanako sa iyang reklamo bahin sa iyang amo nga mao si Mayor Conchita Toribio Delos Reyes alyas ‘Che,’ nga matud pa niya, grabe ka isog ang maong Mayora ug gani dili managana mosugo ug papatay sa mga tawong dili niya kagustohan,” said the victim’s wife, Marina Ronquillo, in a sworn affidavit submitted before the Provincial Fiscal’s Office and signed by public prosecutor Adolfo Doroy.

Two years after her husband’s murder, Marina said she is now emboldened to seek justice for her husband “for the sake of her four fatherless children” a star witness, Arnel Avila, has surfaced. She said she tried to seek police assistance but none came out of it. Avila, once a member of Carmen police auxiliary, testified in a sworn statement that he knew of the events prior to the November 28, 2011 murder of Ronquillo, linking Mayor Delos Reyes as the alleged mastermind. The witness Avila revealed that Ronquillo became an assassination target of Delos Reyes after he saw a pack of shabu which fell from the mayor’s bag. Ronquillo allegedly relayed the shabu-discovery incident to his friends in Carmen which had invited the ire of Delos Reyes. In his affidavit subscribed and sworn before provincial fiscal Eric M. Ucat, Avila was asked: “Ngano nga gipapatay man si Dito Ronquillo ni Mayor Conchita Toribio Delos Reyes? “Tungod kay nakakita si Dito Ronquillo ug shabu didto sa bag ni Mayor Conchita Toribio Delos Reyes nga nahulog gikan sa iyang bag. Sa pagkahulog sa shabu, gipunit ni Dito Ronquillo ug guihatag niya ngadto ni Mayor Che, ug sa paghatag niya ngadto ni Mayor Che, gisakdaw kini ni Mayor Che, ug niining tungura nisulti siya ngadto ni Dito Ronquillo nga masuk-anon nga mag istorya ra unya ta. “Mao kadto ang gikasuk-an ni Mayor Che ug gikasab-an si Dito Roquillo; dugang pa niini, gipanugilon ni Dito Ronquillo didto sa videokihan didto sa Poblacion, Carmen, Bohol, didto sa merkado nga nakakita siya ug shabu didto sa bag ni Mayor Che,” according to Avila in his affidavit.
