Tomorrow is a red letter day in nearby Cortes town as suspended Mayor Jasmine Balistoy is back in her elected position after serving a six-month suspension for alleged violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. The fighting lady mayor is on her third and final term and her return to the office she was elected into was a vindication of sorts as she still exercises the power of her office even in its dying days. Her term shall have ended on June 30 following the election of the new mayor. Running for vice mayor in the coming May 13 elections, Mayor Balistoy is the running mate of opposition candidate retired police colonel Roberto Tabanera.
As she prepared for her return tomorrow, her legions of supporters are reported to be gearing for a show of force as soon as she reassumes her old post. Her supporters are expected to extend a warm welcome to the lady mayor who was out of office for six months as a result of the suspension. With Mayor Balistoy’s return, the lady mayor was confident that she still enjoys the siolid support of majority of the Cortes people. As mayor for nine years, Mayor Balistoy is proud of her accomplishments in practically all aspects of delivering basic services to her constituents. Through this special supplement which will come out in time for her return to the town’s mayoralty saddle, Mayor Balistoy released to her townspeople her list of accomplishments.
