DESPERATE SMEAR CAMPAIGN Mayor slams critics’ ‘black propaganda’

The continued systematic publication of negative propaganda against Loay Mayor Rosemarie ‘May’ Lim-Imboy has been rejected by Loayanons as a “baseless and desperate” effort of her losing candidate-opponents. Mayor Imboy, in a brief huddle with the media Friday, said people of Loay have called and texted her expressing their support and dismissing those publicized allegations as figments of imaginations against her from political detractors who cannot accept imminent defeat this coming elections. The Loay mayor referred to Vice Mayor Paul Tejano, councilors Manuelita Romero, Leonides Tiongco, Steven Lim, Hermes Entero Jr., Jeselo Adiong and Consuelo Tiongco who are believed behind these futile media hype. “All those accusations printed in newspapers and heard on radio are allegations with no basis. In fact, I have not received any communication from the Ombudsman acknowledging that those reported complaints are indeed filed at said office,” Mayor Imboy said.

The Loay mayor added that those purported complaints are all absurd and unbelievable even to an ordinary mind. These are actions of desperate political opponents who cannot find any valid issue against her. Without going into details, Mayor Imboy pointed in particular the issue on PCOS machine she allegedly brought into her house during the 2010 elections. “That story is very funny! Can a mayor do that; - bring such machine to her home? No mayor, congressman even the President or anybody powerful can do that. That will be a malicious accusation directed against the Comelec and the software provider SmartMatics that would undermine the integrity of our automated election process.” “Bisan ang usa ka ordinariong tawo dili katoo ana. Unsa man gibulokan na jod sila sa taga Bohol nga motoo anang klasehas pamakak (even an ordinary simple-minded person can’t believe that. Do they really think the Boholanos are stupid to believe that vicious lie?). Only the perennial liars can concoct that kind of silly accusation,” Mayor Imboy said as she laughed-off the ridiculous accusations. “Basin sila ang may hugaw nga intensiyon nga mohimo ana kay nabati naman nila ang kapildihan (maybe they are the ones who have the intention to do such dirty tricks because they feel their impending defeat),” she added.

UNWITTING VICTIM

Mayor Imboy also cited the obvious utilization of media to ruin her name. “The newspaper appears to have been unwittingly used for such malicious intentions. In a fair and balance reporting, both sides should be presented in a news story but in the issues published against me, I was never called for me to give my side,” Mayor Imboy lamented. Commenting on the other allegations that were also published in the newspapers, Mayor Imboy said the Seal of Good Housekeeping awarded to her by the Department of Interior and Local Government this year vindicates and proves her good performance and clean governance. “These accusers say the award is “paid” (pinalet). This is an insult to the DILG and the other agencies like the Commission on Audit that have jointly assessed municipalities that are worthy to be given this award,” Mayor Imboy said. “The COA found no such violations in the Annual Audit Report (ARR) for Loay. The DILG assessment bureau for Local Finance also is part of the screening committee. All these graft and other allegations, if there are any could not escape the scrutiny of these agencies. Probably these are acts of the accusers themselves.” “These are also unfair accusations that would blacken the memory of the late DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo who founded this recognition Seal Award for mayors who have done exemplary performance,” she added.

LOOK WHO’S TALKING?

Asked if she is threatened by this alleged complaint, Mayor Imboy said “not in anyway.” She added, “How can you be threatened by a group of people with questionable credibility if they still have that? Can you be threatened by a former mayor who was convicted for padding an official receipt, a non-performing vice mayor and the only vice mayor I know who would not accept an appointment to be officer-in-charge of our municipality if I attend official matters in Manila because he is busy with his business; a Barangay Liga head who do not have the vote of confidence of her peers and thus cannot even muster a quorum when she calls for a meeting; a councilor who does not support his illegitimate child; a councilor who is unwanted and rejected by the association which he is a member of; another councilor who does not understand ethical standards in the sanggunian session hall; - this councilor attends the session wearing shorts and barong together, was involved in a fistfight with his colleague inside the session hall and is facing administrative and criminal cases at the Ombudsman?” “I won’t dignify them with an answer. All these accusers have the same distorted views; motivated only by their selfish intentions and cannot accept the reality that they are sure losers. Losers have only two possibilities; - either they humbly accept the reality or ignore reality and spread venomous lies to the point of believing their own lies, thinking they have fooled the people.” “The people of Loay are all in agreement that these accusers are not fit to be elected. These ambitious political detractors are certainly block-listed by now by Loayanon voters,” the lady mayor said.

RECORD PERFORMANCE

Financial records of Loay showed the town posted a gross total local income of P10M a year after Mayor Imboy assumed office on her first term, compared to the time of former mayor Edi Tiongco and vice mayor Tiburcio Bullecer who posted only P900,000 annual income. “Just look at the numbers, if there is corruption who do you think is doing it?” Mayor Imboy added. The economy of Loay and the life of its people have also drastically improved in all aspects, with the basic services now equally delivered; ranging from LGU initiated livelihood programs, concrete barangay roads, waterworks, fishport, modern municipal hall, the cultural center, youth-sports development, health and barangay projects. “The change in the total landscape of Loay can prove the fruits of my performance. These alleged complaints are all media hype intended to put me on trial by publicity; - but people in my town know who these accusers are and they will never be deceived,” Mayor Imboy said.
