Mayor Lim’s name - calling triggers ‘Ae’ Damalerio repartee

He may be ugly in the eyes of Dan Lim but he is not the beast that the city mayor pictures him to be. Thus, reacted Provincial Administrator Alfonso “Ae” Damalerio II, after City Mayor Lim, in his weekly radio program yesterday, resorted to ‘below the belt’ tirades. Damalerio, favorite whipping boy of Mayor Lim in the league of his principal Gov. Edgar Chatto, was again at the receiving end of the city executive acerbic tongue. This time, the name calling borders something fit for the sewage system. According to Mayor Lim, among the Damalerio siblings, Ae is the most ugly, and he wondered why. In repartee, Damalerio chose to be calm and collected all throughout the radio program where Lim was at his element in putting the Capitol factotum in a bad light to the point of zeroing in on his facial profile.

In retaliation, Damalerio rummaged into his scrapbook of pictures and come up with the most pretty face he can imagine. (See photo front page) According to Damalerio, he could only be unpleasant, even ugliest, to the eyes of those whom he can’t see eye to eye, but is not beauty in the eye of the beholder? Far from being beastly in character to his fellow human being, Damalerio rationalized that “a person is beautiful, in and out, by his positive disposition, good relationship and other admirable traits. A government official is beautiful, in and out, by his accomplishments, public actuations that are not vulgar, public acts that are not indecent, value and commitment to his mandate, and sensitivity to the issues and concerns of the people he ought to serve. I could only thank God for creating me in His own Likeness,” Damalerio said. (Ven rebo Arigo)
