Pundok Panaghiusa spells out own mantra dubbed TAGBILARAN

 

PUNDOK Panaghiusa, a people movement spearheaded by City Councilor John Geesnell Baba Yap, never run out of ideas and transform these into reality.  This developed as it is eyeing what Tagbilaran city should be once Baba Yap sits as city mayor. This truly reflects in its dream and vision called TAGBILARAN, which stands forTransparency, Accessibility, God-loving/fearing, Barangay-based programs, Initiative and Independence, Leadership potential and opportunities, Active citizenry, Responsive social services, Accountable public officials and employees and New generation. Pundok Panaghiusa, Baba Yap points out, envisions to bring about authentic changes in city governance based on the different issues and problems besetting the city on what they have witnessed. To achieve these vision and mission, Pundok Panaghiusa defines its objectives. These include the 10-point program and objectives. It aims to establish a transparent and accountable city government free from corrupt practices as part of the democratic processes that empower the people Empowering and capacitating new leaders is in the development agenda of the Pundok Panaghiusa “To work in the spirit of transformational politics, training new leaders from among the people and guaranteeing their active participation in introducing positive changes in governance.” Thus the recent sectoral consultation, Baba Yap said.  Among its agenda is “to make the city government more responsive and effective in providing services to the people by improving the human resource, logistical, and technical capabilities of all the agencies under the executive branch” and to promote peace and order and establish social justice which “guarantees discipline and the prevention of crime without violating the basic rights of the people as enshrined in the Constitution.”

 Saying that peace and development must go hand in hand, Baba Yap intends to establish a city government that economically progressive by promoting investment-friendly policies without jeopardizing the well-being of the city residents and visitors alike. Infrastructural development of the city in the forms of public roads and utilities through a well-defined urban plan that seriously protecting the ecological aspect. Creating livelihood and job opportunities that will guarantee fair and adequate wages and benefits, as well as better workplace conditions for the city’s private and public sector workers is also on top of the agenda of the Pundok Panaghiusa. Education also plays a key role for an empowered people, thus, the Pundok Panaghiusa aims to “To establish a system for subsidized education for deserving students and to promote curriculums that are geared towards the manpower demands of investors, while training the youth to be active and responsible citizens.”  And part of this is to broaden and improve the quality of life of every citizen in terms of “healthcare benefits, education, sports development, legal assistance, shelter and sanitation, that shall be provided by the city to children, women, youth, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and the marginalized sectors of society,” said Baba Yap.  Baba Yap’s running-mate is city councilor Anne Mariquit: Kit” D. Oppus and his complete ticket for city councilor are: Jojo Bompat, Ondoy Borja, Tim Butalid, Charles Cabalit, Johnny Enerio, incumbent city councilor Beben Inting, former Congressman Atty. Adam Relson Jala, Jerry Pabe, Dr. Allan Real and Mimi Vitorillo.
