Mayor Che goes ballistic, calls Cong. Yap traitor

True to her outspoken nature, Carmen Mayor Conchita “Che” Toribio de los Reyes went ballistic Monday and vented her ire on Cong. Arthur Yap of the third district. Branding the incumbent solon as a traitor by citing at least two reliable sources, the feisty mayor minced no words In her tirades against Yap. What apparently drove Mayor Che from reacting viciously against Yap was the information she gathered from V-President Jejomar Binay that put her gubernatorial did under doubtful circumstances. The lady mayor quoted Binay as saying per information from Yap that she is a weak candidate for Bohol governor. In her narration while attending a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce in Manila, the vice president was told of uncomplimentary remarks regarding her gubernatorial aspiration accordingly by Yap. Quoting Binay as told reportedly by Yap, Mayor Che said:”Vice mahina si Mayor Che, saka Ang Bag-ong Bol-anon sa Bohol”. (Vice Mayor is a weak bet, so with Ang Bag-ong Bol-anon in Bohol (the advocacy group of the mayor). Calling her scathing disclosure libelous , Cong. Yap refused to dignify any answer given the mayor’s angry rhetoric adding he just want to work as representative of the third district. Showing signs of disgust to Yap’s unsavory report to Binay, Mayor Che dismissed the congressman’s antics that “no way will the vice president believes him”. With the likes of Cong. Aumentado, Mayor Lim (of Tagbilaran), Mayor Evasco (of Maribojoc) and all the rest of big responsible politicians of Bohol, all backing Mayor Che, she said this was substantiated no less by Binay in one of his speeches when he endorsed her candidacy for governor. She said Binay was one national official “who is a believer of Mayor Che”.

As to the traitor label, she said, it was former secretary DENR Lito Atienza who told her about it. She said she met Atienza in a meeting she attended. Another source whom the lady mayor cited as having called Yap a traitor was a certain Aieleen de Leon, personal secretary of former President GMA. Elaborating on the traitor tag, Mayor Che said if the congressman was not such, then during the time that he was the secretary of the department agriculture, he should have satisfied Bohol of all his best programs. Then, she asked , where all the funds went? Answering her own question, Mayor Che said the funds were all poured in Makati resulting in the so-called fertilizer scam. Commenting on the reported accomplishments of Cong. Yap in the third district, Mayor Che said even if Amay Bisaya “is our congressman in the district, the people can still have the same kind of projects”. During the same occasion (Monday morning convocation in Carmen)where Mayor Che vented her anger to her pet peeves the likes of Gov. Chatto and Cong. Yap, the combative mayor recalled that the incumbent congressman was one of those who convinced her to run for governor. The mayor remembered that it was about 2:00 o’clock dawn that Yap convinced her to run for governor with the promise of helping her to bankroll the logistical requirements. The Che tirades last Monday in Carmen were contained in an e-mail to the Post and most likely to other news outlets. It was sent by a certain Mr. Lor Balio entitled “ Che Attacks Cong. Arthur Yap”. The part where Gov. Chatto was at the receiving end of her “verbal venom: was replayed in a paid noontime program over Station DYRD the past days.
