The BS Marine Engineering and BS Marine Transportation Programs of Cristal e -College got another international recognition. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport & Tourism (MLIT ) of the government of Japan recently recognized Cristal e-College and certified it as a Maritime Education Training (MET) Institution. Graduates of BS Marine Engineering or BS Marine Transportation from Cristal e -College are exempted to take a licensure examination given by the MLIT of Japan. They can use their duly recognized PRC license when they work as officers on board Japanese vessels. Graduates of other maritime schools do not enjoy this privilege and must take and pass the tough MLIT examination. Cristal e-College is one of only six among the 93 maritime schools in the Philippines that received this distinction. The maritime schools and their year of recognition by MLIT are shown below:
Bicol Merchant Marine College, Inc. – FY 2012
CRISTAL e-COLLEGE – FY 2012
Holy Cross of Davao College, Inc. – FY 2012
Maritime Academy of Asia & the Pacific (MAAP) – FY 2011
NYK-TDG Maritime Academy (NTMA) – FY 2011
Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PM MA) – FY2011
Getting this recognition and certification from MLIT Japan implies the quality of education and training of maritime students in these HEls, and the excellence of their maritime programs, faculty, and facilities. Furthermore, these schools are in the Top 10 of 93 maritime schools in the country since the MSAP was administered jointly by CHED and PJMCC in the last five (5) years. A school having a MLIT certification is considered as a rare and distinctive hallmark of a MET institution. This seal of recognition is appropriately honored by the International Maritime Organization, and other maritime organizations, like the European Maritime Safety Association. Cristal e-College is certified by Global Group for its Quality Management System with ISO Certificate ISO 9001:2008 for its International Standard.
