Lim asks Chatto: Who is Aniscal?

Who is Exequiel Aniscal?

Tagbilaran Mayor Dan Lim yesterday asked Gov. Edgar Chatto to enlighten the public regarding the real identity of the escapee who continued to elude pursuers more than a week after his two other fellow escapees were shot dead. Lim said Aniscal broke into the spotlight after he and two other inmates bolted the Bohol Detention Jail (BDJ) last May 17. The two other escapees, Mario Ilaya of Carmen and Bryan Ceniza of Inabanga were both shot dead by pursuing lawmen in Barangay Bood, Ubay last May 22. Aniscal, a native of San Vicente, Maribojoc, however, continues to elude arrest and has continued his amazing run. Lim said that according to information given to him, Aniscal, 50, has a sister who works as an administrative aide at the Capitol specifically at the Internal Affairs Office under Engr. Gabino Redulla, a former mayor of Maribojoc town.

The mayor said Aniscal’s father was reportedly a driver of the late Assemblyman Eladio Chatto, the governor’s father. “There are allegations that Aniscal was allowed to escape to run after the governor’s critics,” he added. Lim said he himself does not want to give credence to such stories because this is not the first time he has heard of this kind of intrigue. The mayor, however, noted that there seems to be a lack of interest on the part of the Capitol to solve the puzzle on the escape of Aniscal and his two companions. “For one, they have not only failed to determine how Aniscal was able to have a gun inside the jail but also do not seem inclined to find out,” he added. Lim said that to this day, Capitol officials appear disinterested to look into reports that the three inmates casually walked out of the jail as shown by the CCTV footage obtained by ABS-CBN.

“We know when the Capitol is interested because you hear it all over from their paid commentators,” he added. Instead, Lim said Chatto seems more interested in other less important matters which is at best an indication of disinterest and at worse an attempt to divert the issue. “While their paid hacks continue to heap insults on me and (Mayor Conchita Toribio), they have not shown even half the anger over the manner the escapees walked out of jail,” he added. Lim said there is also not much interest shown by Chatto in the capture of Aniscal. The mayor warned that the continued half-hearted search for Aniscal might lead people to conclude that he was in fact allowed to escape. “If the results of their investigation fail to satisfy the curiosity of our people, they cannot prevent us from asking higher authorities to do it for them,” Lim warned.
