P15-M fish port in Loay, flagship project of Mayor May Lim-Imboy

The municipality of Loay is one of the lucky ones to have benefited from the generosity of former agriculture secretary Arthur Yap now third district congressman when he poured in P15 million in DA funds to complete the construction of the Loay fish port. Long been the home port of fishing vessels plying the rich fishing grounds of the Mindanao sea, the Loay port is one landmark which any Loaynon who comes for a visit during the annual next week will not miss. Extended up to the deep waters of the Loay harbor, the fish port was one of the landmark projects of Mayor Rosemarie Lim-Imboy to use the port as another entry point of inter-island vessels. The Lims are known in the shipping industry for owning the ferry boats of Lite Shipping Line and it is not farfetched that any of their boats will be using the Loay facility as a port of call for their inter-island journeys to Mindanao.

The construction of the fish port was one of the 11 projects completed by the Lim-Imboy administration during her second term. Lim-Imboy is the first lady mayor Loay has ever seen. A list of on-going projects of Mayor Lim-Imboy showed a total of 10 projects. Whether on-going or finished projects, the fund sources was released through the initiative of the charismatic lady mayor. Among the personalities who helped Loay in its fund raising efforts to finance local projects were Senators Bong Revilla, Miguel Zubiri, Jinggoy Estrada, Chiz Escudero, Cong. Yap, Gov. Edgar Chatto, Sen. Loren Legarda, businessman Lucio Lim, Jr., Ambassador Carlos Chan and Board Member Brigido “Boy” Imboy.
