Gov. Edgar M. Chatto is optimistic that cooperation from Tagbilaran City’s city councilors can be helpful in addressing some concerns of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). The Provincial Development Council (PDC) meeting Friday brought to the body’s attention the city’s “Dao Lake” problem and the full street lighting concern along the whole stretch of the causeway between Tagbilaran and Dauis. PDC Chair Gov. Chatto informed Engr. Teodoro Castillo of the DPWH Engineering District 1 that he has already sent a letter requesting the latter’s office to coordinate with Tagbilaran City Engineer Pianicita Castolo and the city government to identify certain exit points for the stagnant water now flooding a certain portion in Dao District. On the other hand, Provincial Administrator Alfonso Damalerio II asked for a clarification regarding the street lighting concern since it is included in the Panglao Island Circumferential Road Project.
Both concerns have already caused a lot of discomfort among motorists for quite some time now and the PDC body believes that cooperation from the city government could help address these problems. However, as regards to the street lighting at causeway, Engr. Castillo informed the PDC that the city government has already expressed, through a representative won’t pay for the street light consumption to be incurred despite the existing post lines; unlike in Dauis’ side, which has already been taken cared of. The governor requested Engr. Castillo to issue an official comment regarding the matter so that the Provincial Government could formally do something to help solve the people’s dilemma. (jlv/EDCom)
