Now that Mayor Imboy fulfills her part, is SK chair next to get boot?

With Loay Mayor Rosemarie Lim-Imboy fulfilling her part of an agreement to hand down power of the League of Municipalities in a term-sharing scheme, is the chairmanship of the Sangguniang Kabataan, provincial federation, not far behind? Loay’s feisty lady mayor has a personal interest in the SK top plum after the same scheme was agreed with her son, Jethro Nathaniel Lim-Imboy. If the agreement will have to be respected, Lim-Imboy’s son, will take over the position from incumbent SK head Doxson Asoy. As president of LMP, Bohol chapter, Lim-Imboy agreed to vacate the LMP presidency to honor an agreement with Trinidad Mayor Roberto Cajes in turnover ceremonies held last week. Mayor Cajes was the league’s executive vice president. With Lim-Imboy turning over the post to Mayor Cajes, she was asking if her son was afforded the same right as executive vice president to Asoy’s position.

According to the grapevine, while it was smooth sailing for Lim-Imboy’s turnover to Mayor Cajes, it appeared to be a tall order for her son to succeed Asoy in implementation of another term-sharing deal. It appeared that a looming ‘Clash of Titans’ is seen to erupt if the SK provincial leadership term-sharing agreement is not respected. Reports that surfaced this week said the camp of incumbent SK federated president was not keen to honor the agreement earlier entered into between him and the young Imboy. A source from the Asoy office said the agreement was just prepared by the Imboy camp without the assistance of a lawyer. Asoy, allegedly, was not even furnished a copy of said document. During the elections, Asoy had the backing of Vice Gov. Lim, while Imboy had the backing of his parents, an incumbent League of Municipalities president that time, plus a board member father.

It was reported that Vice Gov Lim offered the compromise agreement of term-sharing to avoid a costly and hotly contested election. Handlers of both camps, during the SK elections, were reported to have prepared well, which include financial logistics and political backers. The elections held at the Le Eng Chinese Restaurant, Bohol Tropics Resort on December 10, 2010 was the most anticipated election as during that time, the mother of Jethro Imboy, was already elected as League of Municipalities (LMP-Bohol) president, also in a very tense mode, against Trinidad Mayor Cajes. The Imboys were reportedly in a falling-out situation with the Chatto-Lim administration as a result of the May 2010 election where Chatto and Vice Gov Lim lost in Loay to their contenders, the Herrera-Abapo tandem. The LMP presidency was however settled in the same manner, a term-sharing agreement with Cajes. Mayor Lim has since then relinquished her seat to Mayor Cajes this month, honoring the agreement. An insider from the Imboy camp said they will demand that the turn-over of the presidency be made now as the LMP had already changed leadership as per agreement.

Vice Gov Lim said in a phone interview yesterday, that the agreement will certainly be honored but not this month and on certain conditions. As Sangguniang Panlalawigan presiding officer, she will set conditions, to insure that the new SK president attends to his functions as SP ex-officio member representing the youth. One of the conditions set is for Jethro Imboy is for him to transfer his studies here in Tagbilaran, to be accessible and be present during sessions. Vice Gov Lim said she will be calling a meeting in March regarding the SK representation and turn-over. The turn-over will be possibly be made in April, unlike the LMP that had a turn-over this month since the SK had their elections later in December 2010. “About me and Chatto losing in Loay in the last elections, that is no longer an issue. What I am concern most is that the SK ex-officio board member attends sessions and exercises his functions as young legislator,” Vice Gov. Lim said.
