Seven people from Candijay were among the hundreds who died in the deadly Sendong typhoon flash floods. Six are still missing while 36 houses in the Candijaynon community in Cagayan de Oro City were swept away by the raging waters. Candijay Mayor Sergio Amora, Jr. had appealed to all his town mates and fellow Boholanos to send help to these kababayans who migrated to Cagayan de Oro for a greener pasture but instead lost loved ones at the onslaught of typhoon Sendong. The LGU Candijay, through the Office of the Mayor had sent initial help consisting of cash money, used clothing, rice, noodles to 100 families from Candijay already residing in that city.
The appeal of the mayor was aired in all local radio stations generating a response from well-meaning Boholanos. Donations and relief goods are still accepted at the candijay municipal hall. Latest relief goods will be shipped this week.
