A young Boholano, sponsored by Rep. Rene Relampagos of the first d istrict of Bohol, topped the recent National Chess Competition, edging over opponents from all over the country. Jerad Rasonabe Docena, a Boholano, based in Manila, won the 19 th Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship, Boys Division held last October 8 and 9 at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila. Docena hails from Taguba-as, Antequera, Bohol. He joined the competition however as representative of Wesleyan College of Manila where he is presently studying. The young Boholano was the only one who breached the 2000 mark in the ratings. He got a whooping rating of 2028. His opponents in the competition were selected from all over the country, some coming from as far as Palawan and Cagayan de Oro City in Mindanao.
